DUCTILE SHEAR
Design Studio, Georgia Tech, Spring 2021, Instructor: Julie Kim
The following is a study of “Geological Interpretation Hall” a project designed by Rube Nieto Diego. This museum is a modification to a vernacular house in Juzbado. The Spanish town is built from granite containing the rock structure mylonite, key in determining the towns location along a ductile shear zone: a relic of a tectonic event from millions of years ago, and the museums focus. The architecture carefully considers material to highlight this history.
